It's 1 p.m. in Los Angeles, California, where millions of people are still bracing for the worst

that several fast-moving wildfires devastate large swaths of Los Angeles.

What director of emergency management

for L.A. County calls a, quote, historical natural disaster. A perfect storm of weather conditions.

Hurricane force winds up to 100 miles an hour in some places and exceptionally dry conditions.

All of that led to explosive growth in the wildfires overnight.

The Palisades fire, which started Tuesday morning and has now burned more than 10,000 acres

devastating the community of Pacific Palisades. More than 80,000 people have been evacuated.

So I'm leaving everything they own behind.

The Associated Press is now reporting that the Pacific Palisades Fire is now the most destructive in Los Angeles history.

A little east of Los Angeles, the Eaton Fire has led to two deaths.

More than 100 structures have been destroyed. Both the

Eaton fire and the Palisades fire, along with the third fire burning in the San Fernando

Valley north of L.A. are at this hour, zero percent contained. These wildfires leading to significant

disruptions to life in America's second largest city.

More than 300,000 power outages and closures in 19 school districts, including the L.A. School District,

that's the country's second largest.

Multiple major roads and freeways are closed as are major sites like Universal Studios. Events are being

canceled, including the SAG Award nominations and the Critics Choice Awards. For first responders

there and government officials, resources are already stretched to the limit. One official
