It's a beautiful lady. She used to keep me on her, put me on her bosom and shake me and rock me to sleep and stuff.

People who lived, or still live, in Altdale Gardens, have been painting the names of lost loved ones on this memorial wall for years.

Hundreds and hundreds of names, in no particular order, hand-printed

across a long expanse of yellow-painted brick. This young man doesn't want to give his name,

but he's sure glad this wall is here. It sits in the covered breezeway of what was once a bustling

commercial plaza. Some of the bricks are pockmarked, some of the paint is peeling.

Above, a strip of white plaster hosts more names, all neatly alphabetized.

And then my grandfather, he passed some times later.

But these are the people who's raised up out here who was part of the community.
