This is the Guardian.

Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister, the third in as many months.

But can Wishi Sunak turn around the Conservative Party's fortunes and those of the country?

It's Monday morning, it's unseasonably bright and warm and as we walk into Westminster,

the chances are that within a few hours we could have a new Prime Minister.

On Sunday night Boris Johnson dramatically withdrew from the race.

Boris Johnson had come to the conclusion this would simply not be the right thing to do as you

can't govern effectively unless you have a united party in Parliament.

Leaving only two candidates remaining, there's penny more to it. What this country needs is a

fresh face, someone that can unite the Conservative Party and get things to work in this country.

Who is struggling to get the backing of the 100 MPs that is needed?

And then there is the runaway favourite in the race.

Wishi Sunak, the last minute or so, he's just put out a tweet which says the United Kingdom

is a great country but we face a profound economic crisis.

That's why I am standing here.

And as I look around here in Port Colise House, Q's outside, as MPs start arriving for the day,

there is a sense of anticipation building.
