Hello David. On the show we welcome back Yale history professor Timothy Snyder. If you're a regular

listener you may recall our conversation with professor Snyder about his book on tyranny where he took his knowledge of how fascism took hold

in Europe in the 1930s and applied it to trends he was saying in America today.

His latest book explores a similar theme. It's entitled The Road to Un Freedom

Russia, Europe, America. And it's a chronicle of the rise of authoritarianism to various degrees in those three places.

Then we're going to be joined by journalist Mark Plotkin, who's going to tell us all

about the District of Columbia's push for statehood.

Over 700,000 American citizens in Washington, D.C.

do not have the same representation

as the rest of us do.

And Mr. Plotkin is going to give us some of the history of that

struggle and the chances of DC statehood ever becoming a reality.

Somewhere in the middle we will break things up by checking in with our tireless corporate
