Thanks so much for joining us at Cold-Case Christianity, I'm J. Warner Wallace, and we are

going to be talking this week about something I haven't talked about on our NRB TV show

or on our YouTube channel, and that is the impact and the kind of nature of the non-canonical

gospels.

And I get emails on this all the time, you know, what do we do with these other stories

of Jesus?

As a matter of fact, people like Bart Irman would argue that there are other lost Chrissianities,

versions of Christianity, that we don't seem to follow as Christians, yet there are lots

of people who like Jesus, who talked a lot about Jesus and wrote ancient documents about

Jesus.

Even given them the names, a gospel of the names related to the eyewitnesses, the gospel

of Philip, the gospel of Mary, the gospel of Judas, the gospel of Barnum.

How do we know that those gospels, you may have heard of, the ancient non-canonical

gospels, are actually accurate?

How do we know that we can trust what is told us about Jesus and that New Testament

gospels, but we should reject what is being said about that Jesus and the non-canonicals?

It seems to be, you know, this is why the argument is often made, that there was a fight

in the first century for the nature of who Jesus was, or the truth claims about Jesus.
