Welcome to another left right and center. I am David Green and I want to start this

week with a question. Are we spending too much time focused on the protests

that are unfolding on college campuses around our country and the

crackdowns and the arrests that have followed. And not enough time on the conflict

that led to the protests in the first place, the death in Gaza, the

hostages still held, the political realities that

are fueling this conflict.

I mean, listen to this coverage.

remain on Columbia University's campus after clearing out a campus building

occupied by protesters last night. So far more than a thousand people have been arrested since

the demonstrations across college campuses against the war in Gaza began. At

UCLA, hundreds of students and faculty walking out of class in support of the protests.

Today, the University of Wisconsin and Madison became the latest hotspot in clashes between

pro-Palestinian demonstrators and police. More than two dozen were arrested.

I mean, I'm not suggesting that these stories are not important in any way,

but there is a question here and it's one that was asked by Lorraine Ali, she's the news and culture critic for the LA Times.

She raised this question in a piece this week.

She said she didn't see enough headlines, for example, about mass graves that were discovered in Gaza and she asked if the media

is hyper-focused on how we protest atrocities rather than atrocities themselves.

And so I want to start here with that question
