he would also need an extension.

Because Joe Shane has one more year left on his contract.

That's interesting.

And giving him the extension is not a, hey, Joe, you've done such a wonderful job.

Here's an extension.

Right.

It will hurt the coaching search if they know the general manager leading the search only has one year left on his contract.

I mean, I hear that often, but I don't know.

I think as a head coach, if you know and have any kind of relationship with the general manager,

or get to have a relationship with the general manager, it doesn't matter if they're on the hot seat.
