Summary

Is Sasquatch a Savage Killer?

During a routine walk in the woods, the writer, who had a horse lead on their companion Autumn due to a previous incident, suddenly finds themselves face-to-face with two mysterious, large, and muscular creatures. These beings, one around the writer's height and the other over eight feet tall, have moss-like green highlights and reddish-brown hair. The taller one gazes at the narrator with what appears to be an apologetic look, and an emotional bond forms as the narrator recognizes them as a protector, an old friend from past encounters. This connection triggers memories of loneliness and gratitude, as the creatures express a sense of togetherness and pack loyalty. Years later, the writer, now estranged from their family, learns from their mother that the creatures—specifically the tall one—have been watching over her too, a gesture that seems to carry a sense of vengeance for past wrongs.

Two weeks into this routine, I had an especially bad day. I was in the barn and crying silently,

It sounded like when a horse settles or when a dog finally gets to lie down and takes that last big breath to clear his mind.
