I am incredibly happy that we got Senator Chris Murphy to join us today because he was part of a group of legislators who introduced a bill called the Let Kids Play Act.

And it's something that we have talked about on nothing personal.

And we wanted to talk with the

senator and he was gracious enough to come on our show and join us senator murphy welcome to

nothing personal how are you today i'm good man thank you so much for having me it's my pleasure

so i want to go back to the concept of this bill and and we've talked about it on the show but I'll just summarize

it in a minute and I will say that what you are trying to do literally is to eliminate all venture

capital private equity firms anyone who is coming in and getting involved in youth sports

and you have a story about hockey as well. But in general, it's

bringing affordability back to youth sports, if I could sum it up in a way. And it looks to be

bipartisan and it may be very interesting. But I really did want to hear from you other than as a

hockey dad, as a senator of the United States of America,

representing Connecticut, what made you choose this issue as something you wanted to attack?

I mean, listen, great to be with you and looking forward to the conversation.

Listen, American capitalism is the story of our greatness, right?

We should all be really proud of what we have built here in which people work really hard, midwife, you know, sometimes dangerous ideas that have, you know, resulted in almost every great invention over the last 100 years being invented here. And so, you know, we shouldn't apologize for that.

At the same time, I don't necessarily think that capitalism and profit motivations need to creep into every single aspect of our daily lives and our culture.
