It's the question that anyone in a Western democracy, be it parliamentary or Republican form

of democracy, can ask in the West, is our country the one for which they fought?

And you can ask this in good conscience. It's not clickbait. It's a reasonable question. Obviously, we're the same landmass.

We have roughly the same flag. There's the whole constitution. You can go see some of the

original copies of that in Washington, D.C., just like you can see the Gutenberg Bible. But is that

veneer? And the same can be said with France and England. And I think it's a

concept that should frighten us a little bit. Because the sort of people who will fight for,

let's say, oh, I don't know, Iran, are different from the people who would fight for, let's say, a free America.

The Chinese, the soldiers in the Chinese Communist Party's army, yeah, but they probably love their country,

and they're different than the soldiers in our country because of how they've been taught to respect human life or not respect it.

So it's a deeper question than just a clickbaity kind of let's have fun playing with words.

And the reason that this came up to me is I saw the most heartbreaking quick video,

and there's a longer form of this.

This is a 104-year-old war veteran on VE Day,

the 80th anniversary in England.

I think things are different.

In fact, to be honest with you,

this is not the country of fought for, in my opinion anyway.

Things are different.

And I don't know what today, I think if the same thing was to happen today,

with the younger generation, I don't think they would cope as well as we did.

Can anyone argue with that?
