Welcome back to the Thursday book. I talk, we're going to keep it a little shorter, a little looser. We see a little break.

There's a lot going on and we're going to talk football off the top with the first question. We have a couple non football things.

I might sprinkle in some other stuff. Just get keep it light today. We'll come back on Friday with the receiver Mount Buckmore.

So let's dive right in some of these questions guys. I think I told you I have I gather questions from the texters all the time and I put them in files. I have different files. They're from different times.

I save them I save them I delete them when we use them. But if we if I pull your question and I like it and we don't use it, I save it. So I have questions here from last year and they're still good.

This one's from March of this year. It's from the 816 and it's a topic that we have returned to many times here on Buck. I talk and I think it's worthwhile to talk about right now because we're getting some real world examples of it again from the 816 how confident are you and the coaching staff's willingness to move young players above veterans on the depth chart.

And this goes back to something we talked about before in the past with the urban Meyer staff. It seemed that veteran players blocking younger potentially better players was consistently happening. Nathan, this is far from the first time we have discussed this theory.

Cody Simon springs to mind as an example of this, but as we think about this depth chart and what we think it's going to look like, where do you think we are in this topic that pops up from time to time.

It's interesting because one of most recent examples we would have to answer this was last season and last season is a difficult example to use because of the COVID situation and everything that went into that and we've we have talked back and forth about that.

How much that should have affected legitimately affected the kind of data that the coaches had to evaluate the younger players and how much maybe they were hesitant to pull the trigger and should have earlier.

I think we are getting some indications from some of the things that we've heard this spring and Craig Cody Simon would be probably the best example of that right that that this may be a coaching staff that is open to that sort of thing.

You could maybe I mean, I don't know how far you would go is to whether or not that's also true of the offensive line where you're talking about, you know, putting Paris Johnson a sophomore, although a very highly rated one and Dewan Jones now a third year guy potentially over a fourth year guy like Matthew Jones.

So I there are some examples of it potentially happening in this preseason.

I would take the Ohio State coaches this staff at its word that if a younger guy proves he should play over the younger guy that he will.

And I think that we don't really have any evidence last year that younger guys were proving they needed to play and that the coaching staff was blocking them for the sake of playing veterans.

I think Kerry com's reputation proceeds itself here that he's willing to play younger guys even if it's alongside the older guys.

I mean, Denzel Ward being a part of a three-man rotation with two first rounders.

I understand he turned into a first rounder, but we didn't know that at the time when Kerry com decided to do that.

So I'll give benefit of that out in the secondary that I'll play young guys Nathan just mentioned Cody Simon.

And then the fact that Jackson Smith and the giga giga is the starting slot receiver instead of just being the same three guys and the why receiver unit is last year should be more of an indication that they're willing to play young guys if they're the better options.
