Summary

Dr. Leighton Flowers plays a clips from a recent broadcast from Doxalogic Podcast, where a group defended Calvinism's view of Compatibilism without really saying anything that distinguishes Calvinism from the rest of Christianity, and while seeming to dismiss logical coherence as important when coming to one's interpretation of scripture. Let's understand why this approach is unsound but all too common today.

Hello, Merry Christmas, and welcome to Sochiology 101.

0:14.9

Today we're going to be talking about logical coherence.

0:19.1

Is it even important when it comes to biblical exegesis? If you have two

0:24.3

well-known, viable interpretations of a text in front of you, one of them's not logically coherent,

0:30.4

and the other one is, which one do you think might be the more correct one? I think that's actually

0:36.0

important. Some people don't, and we're going to be

0:38.7

discussing that a little bit today. Before we dive in, I do want to thank all of our patrons, those who

0:43.8

donate and give to make Sociology 101 possible. Thank you so much for that. Appreciate it. And

0:49.3

as it comes to the end of the year, if you would like to make a donation to this 501C3, this ministry, we would gladly accept that to help us spread the news of God's love and

0:57.6

provision for all people.

0:58.9

Appreciate those who consider giving this time of year and those who give on a regular

1:03.0

basis.

1:03.6

We really do appreciate it.

1:05.6

A podcast came up on my feed just recently.

1:08.2

It was titled Calvinism versus determinism. And it was a group of

1:14.2

Calvinists, as you'll hear, describing what they see as Calvinism and compatibilism. Yet in my

1:21.3

estimation, they don't really say anything that's uniquely Calvinistic. They don't say any of the

1:24.9

negative controversial parts of Calvinism. They just talk

1:28.2

about things that most Christians would all agree with. God's sovereign. People are still

1:32.2

responsible, these kinds of things. And they talk about logical coherence. And I want you to hear

1:39.3

kind of what their conclusion was. And to be fair, we'll go back and listen to some of this.

1:44.4

To be fair, one of the gentlemen does say,
