You know, in British politics, just now and again, there are weeks that are seminal.

Weeks where something shifts.

And I'll just let you into our workings here a bit.

I was sat on Thursday evening, Newsagents HQ, thinking about what I might say in this opening for this

show, all about whether this was the week that public opinion faithfully turned. And then

something buzzed on my phone. We're just hearing from the Times newspaper who've done an opinion

poll and they are saying that Labor have surged to a 33 point

lead in the uh uh you gov opinion poll this is thought to be the biggest poll lead enjoyed by any

party with any pollster since the late 1990s labor on 54 percent and the Conservatives on 21%.

Two polls out at the same time, one from EUGov, one from Cervation, showing respectively

a 33 point and a 21 point lead for Labour.

The largest poll lead for an opposition party since 1996, it would result in the biggest majority for any government

at any time ever. And a potential extinction level event for the Conservative Party. Now, it is just

a couple of polls. I think there's no way it will be replicated at that level anyway at a general

election. But it is the sort of lead, which to be honest, I didn't think in our post-Brexit

war's age, with voters so divided in their respective blocks and silos, was really possible
