Hello and welcome to the Americano podcast, a series of discussions about American politics

and now the Joe Biden presidency. We will be looking at how a 78-year-old president will change America

and we'll be asking if normalcy, which is what he promised to bring,

has returned to American politics.

Thank you, Freddie. A lot has happened since you were last on, namely, chiefly, the Electoral College has just confirmed that Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States.

So I thought we should ask, or start by asking, is Joe Biden a dino?

And now for our British listeners, I should probably explain what I mean by that.

I mean Democrat in name only,

because he does seem to be governing so much from the centre that he's tipping into the centre

right and appealing very much to a sort of old-fashioned 90s, naughty's republicanism. So Jacob is

party has left him. He has not left the party, much as the neocons used to say in the 70s,

and as the never-trumper say of the GOP, Joe Biden is being looked at with dagger eyes by the progressive
