out in public in North America lately has probably noticed that tattoos seem to be more popular than ever.

In fact, I read one study that said that 40% of individuals age 35 and younger have at least one tattoo.

So your eyes are not deceiving you.

And we've even noticed that some high-profile

Christian singers, musicians, and even some high-profile preachers, I would hasten to add that

that is outside of the apostolic movement, have been seen sporting tattoos. Does the Bible say

anything about tattoos? Is it just a harmless form of self-expression or is there something deeper going on?

I think we start with a basic teaching that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

We do see that in scripture in 1 Corinthians chapter 3 and especially in chapter 6.

In essence, it says in 1st, Corinthians 6, 19 through 20,

what don't you know your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit?

And then it goes on to say to glorify God in your body and in your spirit,

which belong to gods.

So we start with a very profound conviction, and that passage also says,

you are not your own. You are bought with a price. So we do not belong to ourselves. First of all,

we're created by God. Second of all, we fell into sin. God could have judged us and destroyed us,
