Summary
I unpack why turning a boy into a grounded, capable man has become so difficult in modern culture. I talk about the loss of initiation, the erasure of strong male role models, and the mistake of trying to repress male aggression instead of teaching men how to master it.
We explore why maturity is not about becoming harmless, but about learning to contain and direct a man’s dangerous potential in a healthy way.

| 0:00.0 | All right team, welcome back to the man talk show. |
| 0:08.3 | Connor Beaton here. |
| 0:09.5 | Today we're going to be diving into two main things. |
| 0:12.7 | One, what are some of the key steps of moving into a more mature masculinity to being, to |
| 0:20.2 | actually maturing as a man man which I think is something so |
| 0:24.1 | fundamental that we all need to know and understand what makes that really difficult and hard |
| 0:28.9 | and that is going to tie into why so many men are in decline in our society so let's just dive |
| 0:35.1 | straight in I have been having way more conversations with |
| 0:39.0 | people as of late, where I noticed this common theme showing up. And the common theme is, I think, |
| 0:46.5 | what my friend Chris Williamson has summed up, which is men don't have problems, men just are the |
| 0:51.9 | problem. And this notion has really permeated into our culture |
| 0:58.5 | and into our society. And I think that it is, you know, I don't want to use the word toxic |
| 1:04.2 | because I vehemently loathe and hate that that word gets used all the time, right? Toxic masculinity, toxic this, |
| 1:12.4 | toxic that. I don't think it actually does anything to move anything forward, but that's besides |
| 1:17.5 | the point. This notion that men don't have problems, men are the problem, is so prevalent |
| 1:26.3 | within our culture and society. And what it ends up doing is it tells |
| 1:29.7 | men and women that if men were just different if men were just more like women because there's |
| 1:36.0 | a kind of female supremacy that has emerged within our culture and our society this notion that |
| 1:41.0 | that whatever is woman whatever that that might be, is better than men. |
| 1:48.8 | And that if only men were more like women, if only they adopted more female traits and |
| 1:53.4 | orientation and characteristics and behaviors and decision making processes, et cetera, |
| 1:58.4 | that that culture and society would be fundamentally better. |
