| 0:00.0 | Welcome to 10 minute Bible Talks, where we connect the Bible to your life. |
| 0:09.0 | In the time it takes to get to work. |
| 0:10.6 | I'm Patrick Miller. |
| 0:11.6 | Right now we're going through the first book of the Bible, Genesis. |
| 0:14.7 | A few years back I watched this History Channel special on a modern day blacksmith. |
| 0:20.8 | Now this guy he uses medieval techniques to forge authentically |
| 0:24.8 | medieval swords and armor. The show follows him as he's creating one of the |
| 0:29.6 | hardest forms of steel and he's using a method that probably hasn't been used in over a |
| 0:34.8 | thousand years. As you watch you think he's finally finished. The sword is |

| 1:03.8 | process of proving rather than in the middle of a battle. The second thing that it does |
| 1:08.8 | is that if the sword doesn't break the process of proving of applying this pressure actually makes the |
| 1:15.3 | steel stronger. And so he takes out this massive blacksmith hammer and he begins to |
| 1:20.9 | swing away at his sword and the test proves that his sword is strong and the test |
| 1:26.7 | shapes the sword so that it can become stronger. In Genesis 22 we learned that blacksmiths aren't the only ones who prove their creations. |
| 1:35.6 | God does this as well. |
| 1:37.3 | He doesn't test his creations in order to break them. |
| 1:40.9 | No, he does it so that he can see whether his creation is truly faithful. |
