You know, I have a question regarding plenary indulgence.

I have been watching the mass on TV since the coronavirus started going on and since it's

been available to us. And I also pray the rosary daily with my husband. We do that as a

Lenton thing. I pray that a chaplain of divine mercy, and I am alcoholic.

The other days, I mean, I was doing great, and the other day I drank to drunkenness.

And I guess one of my questions is, is that a mortal sin?

All right, let's talk about it.

Okay, let's first of all say... a mortal sin because it's not myself from God.

Okay, let's first of all say that drunkenness is immortal sin.

Objectively, it's a mortal sin.

However, subjectively, there are all kinds of things that may have reduced your culpability,

your guilt.

So you may not be anywhere nearly as

guilty of drunkenness given your alcoholism and the pressures that you're under right now. And

who knows whatever else may have been going on? God takes all those things into account.

So from the standpoint of the act itself, yes, that's a mortal sin. So what I would

suggest is that you tell God, of course, you're sorry for your sin, whatever the sins are in
