looking to fix the loophole that Dan Lanting in Oregon took advantage of against

Ohio State late in their game last weekend.

If you've been living under a rock and you didn't see it,

Oregon put a 12th defender onto the field,

literally with seconds still go in the game and even though the penalty

was called the time did not get put back on the clock which was what Ohio State needed

the most. Now there are two buckets that I think we need to discuss here. The

first is how to fix it and it's actually pretty simple. One option is when there's two

minutes or less left on the clock in the game, if there is a

pre-snap penalty by the defense, you assess the penalty yardage and put the time lost back on

the clock at the snap. or you give the coach the ability to choose either.

Do you want the five-yard penalty or do you want us to put the time at the snap back on the clock?

Another option is when the referee recognizes that there are 12 men on the field defensively

the play is instantly blown dead
