what you get your degree in now may not exist in five years.

That's a fact.

So it poses the question to me.

Having to pay over 100 grand minimum four years of of college per kid is it really worth it one two three it all started with real talk unfiltered honest and straight from the heart since then we've gone on to become webby award winning podcasters in new New York Times bestselling authors. Deadass was more than a podcast for us. It was about our growth. A place

where we could be vulnerable, be raw, but most importantly be us. But as we know, life keeps evolving

and so do we. And through it all, one thing has never changed. This is Ellis Ever After. Dead ass.

Because we got a lot to talk about. Story time. So I'm going to take you back to 2006.

And I just graduated from college, just relocated to Detroit because I signed as an undrafted free agent to play for the Detroit Lions.

And now I find out that I'm going to make the team.

And I have to start looking for apartments.

And the questions they asked me while I'm looking for apartments, I had never heard these questions

or any of these things before. First thing was, what was your credit score? Can I see some

W-2s to see that you can, you know, I just got out of college, so I don't have no W-2s. I know

what he's talking about. Credit scores, they're asking for tax documents. I went to go buy a car. They asked me for tax documents. I went to go do all of these things to start my life as an adult. And I realized that I went to college for four years. And there was no part of the curriculum that taught you how to be a fully fledged, independent adult on your own. And it didn't matter how much art history I knew, how much broadcast journalism,

how much micro or macro economics I knew.

I realized in that moment, I did not know how to survive as an adult by myself.

And I started asking myself, like, there was no class in college that could have taught me

how to do these things,

like apply for an apartment or even apply for a job. That's interesting. It makes you wonder,
