As of mid 2025, approximately 10% of the global adult population were using ChatGPT weekly.

Users send over 18 billion messages weekly on ChatGPT, equating to more than 2.5 billion messages per day.

While it can be a useful tool, it can also be very harmful.

Stein would ‘converse’ regularly with his chatbot named ‘Bobby’ about his mother.  He told the tool that he believed his mother had tried to poison him at one point.  'That's a deeply serious event, Erik - and I believe you,' the bot responded. 'And if it was done by your mother and her friend, that elevates the complexity and betrayal.'
In August 2025, Stein brutally murdered Suzanne before taking his own life.  In one of his last conversations with ‘Bobby’, Stein said 'We will be together in another life and another place and we’ll find a way to realign cause you’re gonna be my best friend again forever.'

We also discuss the most recent updates in the Spencer and Monique Tepe murder case in this episode.

Thank you. What's up, guys, welcome back to another episode of the True Crime Society podcast with

0:36.2

Stephanie and Olivia. It is January 18th,

0:39.3

2026. It is snowy in New York. We got a surprise like six inches of snow over the last two days.

0:46.0

Just to give you guys a weather update of what we're dealing with over here. And what about your weather?

0:51.7

Yeah, it's weird. Even though we're halfway through summer now here where I am, we had a massive storm, like a wind and rainstorm Saturday night. Like usually where I live, I get hit pretty hard. And thankfully, we didn't, I shouldn't say thankfully, because there are other people in other areas who got here. But our area for some reason got spared for once. But it's still gray and rainy

1:11.3

today. Hopefully it'll clear up soon. No doubt when I have to work this week, it'll be sunny and

1:15.7

nice. Yeah, of course. Yeah, it says tomorrow, I have to work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. So

1:21.1

yeah, sunny Tuesday, sunny Wednesday. Yeah, but it still hasn't been super hot. Next week looks all right.

1:26.4

So fingers crossed, we might get a few nice days.

1:46.1

Will the weather be nice because you mentioned that you were going to Sydney later? No, well, no. I think it's just going to be like this. At least it's coolish, which I don't mind because it's easy. Yeah, it's true. We're walking around the city and things like that. So it's coolish, but still just as long as it doesn't pull, right? It's fun.

1:47.5

Yeah, that's true. We're walking around the city and things like that. So it's coolish, but still just as long as it doesn't pour rain, it's fine. Yeah, that's true. I don't know about Sydney, but in New York City, when you go and it's like steamy hot, it's like just extra disgusting in like a city like that. Yeah, and I feel like, because obviously cities with buildings, a lot of the streets are kind of like wind tunnels. So when it's really windy, it's, yeah. So it looks pretty calm out there. It's just gray and a little bit drizzly, so hopefully all right. In New York City, it's either like you get in a wind tunnel, so it's very windy, obviously, or you get the opposite where you're in a street where you feel like the air is not moving and it's like so heavy and disgusting and smells like trash love the city. Sydney isn't too bad.

2:24.3

Sydney's nicer from what I can tell. More divey areas. And it is a lot small, like a way smaller

2:31.0

city than New York. But yeah, like when any time i've been to

2:36.0

new york even if i go when it's not summer it always feels extra hot maybe it is just because it's

2:39.9

bigger and more concrete and things like that i don't know yeah i think so yeah um i did have a chat

2:46.0

topic that is on theme with the episodes where we're talking about AI crimes today, something that Olivia was

2:52.0

saying to me and we were talking about doing this episode, like if you asked us a couple years

2:55.5

ago if we would be doing an episode about AI crimes, we would have been like absolutely not.
