Well after a bruising and we often say this on our podcast given how bruising

things are at the moment for Boris Johnson after a bruising few days including the resignation

of the toy party chairman Oliver Dowden and two by-election defeats.

Boris Johnson has decided to say that he wants to continue in Downing Street for another decade.

James, this is a bit weird isn't it?

Yes, on the Sunday morning media round the news tried to kind of manfully say that this was

proof that Boris Johnson had a long-term vision for the country that this was a man for plan,

but I think as the day went on and the reaction of Tory MPs to this suggestion became clearer and

clearer. Downing Street was kind of, but we're not saying he doesn't want a third term,

but they are deemphasising the remarks and we put it like that and I think it was a kind of

example of a slightly tone deaf response you know and this is one of the big problems he's got

which is he at some point needs to talk about regaining trust and yet he is still on this kind of

uber-bullish you know you ain't seen nothing yet approach which is just not going to work with

Tory MPs and it only adds to their doubts and tips of few more people over the edge.

Now I don't think there is any imminent prospect of a rule change to 1922 committee, Damien
