The Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has said he'll request permission to stand in an upcoming by-election for Labour,

potentially securing a route back into Parliament.

We have just had the news that Wes Streeting has resigned as Health Secretary,

saying he has lost confidence in the Prime Minister's leadership.

It's divisive, it looks chaotic.

Who knows what the outcome might be?

If Wes started this, it could actually lend us up with a Prime Minister that's a long way to the left of him or Keir.

Well, here we are at the end of what feels like a momentous day for the Labour Party and the government, Kieran.

And it's one of those moments, isn't it, where about three weeks' worth of news happens in one day.

Yeah. Well, so much has suddenly become clear.

I remember just at the beginning of today thinking, I have no idea what is going to happen during this day and who by the end of the day I am going to think, oh, well, that's going to be the prime minister in six months time. And suddenly, I feel like I do know all of that.

Yeah, and we had a bit of a speculation overnight, which we reported on in The Guardian, that we might hear something from Andy Burnham about potentially a seat that he might be able to run in and return to Westminster. We've heard that countless times before. Yeah. And sort of been going around the Greater Manchester map, sort of crossing off seats. Then, of course, there was all this speculation about where's streeting? And what he would do, would he have the numbers to challenge Kirstarmer?

And over the course of today, it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride, hasn't it?

Yeah.

We started very early. Some of us started very, very early, Karen. And I was up, well, I was up till 3.30 in the morning writing up an interview I did with Angela Rainer, which then meant I had to get up two hours later as it went live on the website at 6am. And that interview, of course, was her announcing that she had been cleared by HMRC in the investigation into her tax affairs. Also some words about Kirstama. Kiyosama might want to reflect on his own position.
