Recently, I went on Railroad Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas for another three-night weekend cruise.

It was great, and this time, I stayed in the Ultimate Family Suite.

It cost me $12,000.

Am I absolutely crazy for booking that kind of cabin? Here we go.

Whenever I book any kind of rural Caribbean cruise, I'm usually more opportunistic than anything else.

What I mean by that is I rarely go into a booking with a specific sailing,

cabin, and itinerary in mind. Sometimes it is like one of those three. Like, I want to go to Alaska.

I want to go on a new cruise ship, something like that. But in a lot of cases, I will go into it

with the idea of let's see what the options are and go from there. So if I'm going to Alaska,

I don't necessarily go into it. I'm going to say I'm going to stay in a suite or a balcony or an

inside room. I'll look at it as, well, where are the prices at? And if there's a good rate,

I will bump myself up in order to take advantage of it. you know what I'm just to stay with an inside cabin

or an ocean view cabin in order to save money because it's simply not worth it to move myself up.

So with that mantra in mind, yes, I did stay in the ultimate family sweep on Utopia of the Seas.

There were a couple reasons why I wanted to do it. And yes, it's a little almost tongue in cheek when I say this,

but truly, honestly, the top reason for me staying in a suite like the Oldwood Family Suite,

which is over the top and way too expensive, is for research. Regardless of the price,

I will get questions from readers all the time. What is it like in that room? Is it worth it?
