1:25.0	Because when I was looking into that, I read that you grew up in a segregated city in Washington,
1:32.0	DC, in a poor black neighborhood, and that you said that life on the streets for you were perilous.
1:37.0	Can you tell me a little bit about your childhood there and how you took refuge in books?
1:41.0	Well, my father had a little grocery and liquor store.
1:47.0	He had come over from a wash, that's all, and I should have named the Stealths.
1:53.0	And I lived there the first 14 years of my life.
1:57.0	There were no other white people that are except for a few store owners like the barber a few doors down was white.
