Welcome back to another edition of Irish Illustrated Spotlight. I'm Tim O'Malley, joined for the third straight week by John Bryce and John. There's a reason you're here again. A lot of the reporting you've been working on for a lot of the last six months began to coalesce enough where you wrote a story for football scoop.com that what you had talked

about, a June early signing period is going to pass for 2025. And where I'd like to start, I think,

is that the December, former early signing period, is going to move up in Congress with how the new

transfer portal and playoff calendar has to work in college football.

Yeah, it's sort of twofold, as you mentioned, T.O.

And we've been working on this for a bit.

It had been discussed that the potential was out there maybe for a June signing period

and that there had to be changes made to the December calendar because of the

transport portal and also because of the expanded playoff.

And so what we're seeing now is still has one more leg to become officially official,

fully finalized, but we're looking at a December signing period that would move all the way

up to December 4th instead of December 18th.

It would be open for three days,

only for high school kids at that time, December 4, 5, and 6th. Then the transfer portal would

open the ensuing Monday on December 9th. Another really interesting component of that particular

expected change to the calendar is that then the rest of December would go quiet, meaning

coaches would not go on the road recruiting would not be allowed to go on the road recruiting.

But when you're quiet, that means you can have prospects to your campus.

You've often talked about the short portal window we had in December where it closed,

was it around January 2nd this year?

Yeah, 30 days instead of 45, I think.
