O'Malley and I just got back, just returned from Notre Dame following the press conference announcing Micah Shrewsbury as the new basketball coach at Notre Dame.

We'll get into that here in a little bit,

men's basketball coach, I should say.

But Tim, let's jump first into spring drills.

We had an opportunity to speak with L. Golden and three of the linebackers the other day.

Naturally, the topic of Red Zone came up with L. Golden and you know he rightfully points to

the fact that they were 10th in the country and red zone penetrations but it's it's the

end result that didn't work in Nortem's favor last year. Yeah and I'm very curious to see can you

be very curious? I am curious to see how

this is going to play out in 2023 because it's nonsensical to me that Al Golden's defense was so

bad in the red zone. I don't want to say it's something like how turnovers tend to go back,

swing back the other way, because it's probably more complicated than that.

But if you're that good everywhere else,

and I tracked every single goal to go situation for the entire football season,

I had to go back and start doing it once I realized they kept giving up touchdowns. But I tracked every single one,

and they won so many individual snaps on goal to go,

but yet still gave up a touchdown on third or fourth down.

I don't know how much of that is just bad luck.

Great play made for mental error.

But you know, they're going to be working on it.

But I really, I really think they worked on Red Zone last year, too.
