I'm Tim O'Malley, joined today by Pete Sampson of The Athletic and Drew Mentock of Irish Illustrated.

Guys, Wednesday was a sad day for college football fans and the Notre Dame community

following the passing of coaching legend Lou Holtz, but also time for many to share fond memories

regarding the life and his impact over his

89 years. We'll get a chance to share our Holtz recollections and discuss his impact at the

University of the football program in this segment. And Irish Illustrated, Tim Prester,

we'll have a special Friday Irish Illustrated Insider podcast dedicated to his own thoughts

on Holtz's passing a career. As most of you know, Tim Prester own thoughts on Holtz's passing

and career, as most of you know, Tim Priester covered the entire Holtz era when he started

out as a sports writer.

First, guys, we want to give Coach Holtz's dues and our listeners another look at his legacy.

So let's save that for a larger portion of this segment and briefly discuss the present

because the three of us were at freshman

interviews the last of three weeks of freshman interviews plus we got linebackers coach

Brian Jean-Marie and Pete Drew and I touched on this a little bit in instant analysis already

so I'd like to kick it to you we lost about a handful of interviews which actually I thought

made it might have made it better we're able to focus on the guys there instead of running
