Good morning, everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Thursday, April 2nd. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the speech. President Trump tried to make his case and sell the American public on the Iran war in a speech to the nation.

He promised to send Iran, quote quote unquote back to the Stone Ages with

two to three more weeks of attacks. And in the hours since that speech, a wave of explosions

has been seen. But when the president promised that the war will be over very shortly, the question

lingering is very clear. With what actual end goal? He didn't answer that still last night. Most

takeaways from the prime time address were that nothing new was revealed. The president

repeated his threats toward Iran if diplomatic talks fail, and he repeated his anger, if you

will, toward U.S. allies.

Number one, buy oil from the United States of America. We have plenty. We have so much.

And number two, build up some delayed courage. Should have done it before. Should have done it with us, as we asked.

Go to the straight and just take it, protect it, use it for yourselves.

Today, Britain is hosting, actually, a virtual summit of 35 nations to try and coordinate

an effort to re-secure the straight and get oil moving once again.

The Prime Minister, though, already acknowledging this, quote, this will not be easy.

If a goal of the President's speech was to calm oil markets, it didn't work.

The global and U.S. benchmarks climbing 7% and more in early trading, clearly fearing that

this war is about to ramp up rather than start to wind down.

Number two, the moon mission.

Four astronauts are now on their way, on a historic mission to go deeper into space than any human

in more than half a century.

Two, one, booster ignition, and lift off.
