A military advisor to Iran's supreme leader, Mosen Rezai, told CNN in an exclusive interview in Tehran

that talks with the U.S. are deadlocked over $24 billion in frozen Iranian assets.

This is a sign of trust building.

If Trump takes the negotiation seriously,

$24 billion is not much to America.

If he wants to reach an agreement with Iran,

this $24 billion is a test of trust

that Iran wants to have with Trump. This is a test that America

must pass and the path will be opened. This is our own money, not America's money. Iran has reportedly

demanded the release of $12 billion in frozen funds once an interim agreement is signed with the U.S. and another

$12 billion at a later stage.

U.S. officials are concerned that unfreezing funds at this stage could remove a key leverage

point over the regime.

In the rare interview with CNN, Rezai also threatened that Tehran would widen the war beyond

the Persian Gulf if the U.S. resumes the conflict.

He also rejected prospects of the country's supreme leader meeting with President Donald Trump

and reiterated that Iran and Oman will manage the strait of Hormuz, claiming they have sovereignty over the key waterway.
