When you think about violent crackdowns on dissent, it doesn't necessarily take much to create a much larger backlash. The Boston Massacre killed five people, the protest in

Minneapolis right now over the death of one local resident.

Well, last week in Iran, human rights groups said the Iranian regime had killed more than 30 people as protests picked up steam around the country.

By early this week, that number was up past 500. Well, yesterday, that same human rights group claimed the death toll has now skyrocketed past

2000.

These crackdowns might not be having the effect the Iranian regime was hoping, and the Trump

administration is sending the unmistakable message that U.S. intervention is a possibility.

And all I say to them is help is on its way. ABC's chief foreign correspondent Ian Panel has made his way to Turkey, which of course borders Iran. He's in Istanbul now. Ian, there have been calms blackouts across a lot of the country, so it's been difficult to get a sense of what's going on there. These numbers are astonishing, though. What is the situation on the ground at this point? Yeah, you're right. I mean, this internet blackout is having the desired effect.

It's certainly slowing down substantially the flow of information, the flow of videos,

that is coming out from Iran.
