Summary

The buzz: Home is where the heart is… Healthcare is experiencing a major and positive transformation – and industry disruption – largely due to technology advances like the Internet of Things (IoT). In addition to raising the quality of preventive care, this metamorphosis will allow patients to “age in place” at home, instead of at an impersonal medical or nursing care facility. What is IoT’s potential impact on our wellbeing, our overall society, and how we each view and manage our healthcare in the future? The experts speak. Tom Foley, Lenovo Health: “I've always found that the speed of the boss is the speed of the team” (Lee Iacocca). Tim O’Malley, EarlySense: “In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years” (Abraham Lincoln). Kai Goerlich, SAP: “The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years.” (Deepak Chopra). advances that just keeps trotting along and changing things and changing

0:55.8

how we live and how we work and what we do and industry upon industry. But we're focusing on

health care today. So let's talk about what's happening. Well, IOT and other advances are

raising the quality of preventive health care. That's a big buzzword and it's important for all of us.

1:29.3

That means not going to a nursing home, not going to assisted care facility, not going to a

1:34.5

hospital as long as possible aging in place and being well in place. Very important. IOT can help

that. But is it all hype? Is it all promise? Is it all just out there or is it real? So today we're going to examine, and by the way, this is part two of a topic. We started on February 23rd on another series we host called Future of the Future with Game Changers. And shout out to Brad Borkin and Susan Walker at SAP, who brought me this topic.
