The thing is, is what we think we're doing is we think we're gaining perspective.

But we're not. What we're doing is we're trying to rank our trauma out of existence.

And it doesn't work. And so for me, when I came home, I'd been trained that everybody had it

worse. So when I am having violent night terrors and I'm hypervigilant, I think I'm in danger

all the time. I think my family's in danger. I'm struggling with anger and self-loathing and

eventually depression and eventually suicidal ideation. All this stuff, I'm having this

happening. I'm going, no, I have an ungood authority that what I did was no big deal.

So this can't be PTSD.
