So I'd like to take a moment to welcome the very many new listeners who are coming to us for the first time as part of our partnership with the HBR, the world's leading management publication,

and give a special thanks to Adi Ignatius, the editor-in-chief of HBR for kicking this relationship off.

And to my new listeners, allow me a couple of minutes to introduce exponential view and me, its

creator and your host for the coming months.

Exponential view is about the near future.

It's my journey to understand and explain what is happening in the world around us.

I think we can all feel it that the world is changing really rapidly and that rate of change is

sometimes exciting, sometimes it's dizzying, sometimes it's just unfathomable.

The rate of breakthroughs in artificial intelligence seem to be staggering and the smartphones we carry around

in our pockets are getting more and more powerful. So we can tell that our world is moving faster than ever before

in these radical technologies that like AI,

blockchain, renewables and genetic engineering

are combining and recombining to create new futures.

And as that happens, the familiar becomes unfamiliar and the stable becomes unstable.

It's true more opportunities for business, for investment, for entrepreneurs arise than ever before.

But seemingly there are business and political and economic challenges lurking around every corner.
