I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

And I say that because we credit ourselves and that credit we sort of pride ourselves in teaching our audience things about investigation and about homicide cases.

Tonight, we're going to be part of the people that are on that learning curve because we have two amazing academics.

I guess that's the term I can use for them.

And they're both professors at Ramapo College in New Jersey, but more importantly,

in the field of investigated genetic genealogy. I know that's a mouthful. And I'm not going to

attempt to explain it to you. So let me first bring on Professor Karen Binder from Ramapo

College.

Well, it's so great to have you because this field is just, you know, one of the things

that before I get, I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it seems like civilians have

taken this science away from law enforcement. And I don't say that in a

bad way. I say that because they've leapt with it. They were leaping and leaps in bounds past

law enforcement and the point where law enforcement is going to have to go to the civilian

academics and scientists for help in solving these cold cases through genetic

genealogy?
