Hey, good morning. It's Sunday, June 4th. I'm Ali Valshi. After a week of new revelations regarding the special counsel, Jack Smith's classified documents investigation, we've got more news this morning about the future of that case. NBC News has exclusively learned that the federal grand jury that

0:21.6

has been hearing evidence in that case will reconvene this week after a recent lull in proceedings.

0:27.9

Now, the purpose of the grand jury's upcoming meeting isn't clear. It's not necessarily an

0:31.6

indication that Smith and his team are prepared to seek an indictment just yet. The Justice

0:36.5

Department would not comment on the

loyalty to him instead of to the Constitution was a scourge on his presidency right from the beginning.

Six years ago this week, former FBI director James Comey appeared before the Senate Intelligence

1:29.2

Committee to testify partly about his abrupt firing after opening an investigation into Trump's

1:35.3

campaign possible collusion with Russia. Comey told the panel about a meeting that he had had with Trump

1:41.2

just one week after Trump's inauguration during which the president

1:44.4

told the FBI director, quote, I need loyalty. I expect loyalty. Trump soon appointed Christopher

1:52.2

Ray to replace Comey, but Trump soured on Ray and floated the possibility of firing him as well.
