Hello and welcome back to practicing human, the podcast where every day we're getting a little better at life.

0:06.0

I'm your host, Corey Muscara, and in today's episode we will talk about letting go, even if you don't know what will come next.

0:15.0

More to come on that in a moment, first let's settle in together with the sound of the bells.

0:30.0

So, at the time of recording this, I've just wrapped up a two and a half day online retreat around the theme of Intuitive Guidance.

0:49.0

And in that retreat we were really exploring how we can lead our life and make decisions from a place that is most aligned with what we could call our true nature rather than the ego-conditioning mind that includes other people's ideas, cultures, thoughts, the media, etc.

1:16.0

And it's a big topic. It brings up a lot for a lot of people. There was a lot moving in the space over this past weekend, a lot of emotions come up.

1:26.0

And one of the things that highlights is just all the ways we cover up or negotiate away our truth, like what is most fundamentally true for me right now.

1:42.0

It is complicated to live that way. It can be hard because sometimes our truth is in conflict with other people's truths.

1:51.0

Sometimes we realize, wow, I've made a lot of decisions the last 10 years that were out of alignment. I've abandoned myself in some way, my own knowing for another person's.

2:01.0

And now I feel like I'm in a mess. And to start listening to that means like I would have to backtrack or break everything that I built and just terrified around that.

2:13.0

So it's a big topic and I'm sure you can associate into that.

2:18.0

And one thing I wanted to speak to around that specifically is the ways that the mind often needs, it seems like it needs some sort of predictability that you will be okay, safe, or what your path will look like if you let go of the current thing that you're doing.

2:47.0

Or the current thing that is maybe not totally good, it's only partially good, but it's predictable.

2:56.0

It doesn't come with too many consequences in terms of feeling like you're burning your life down. And it's something that we can live with.

3:06.0

What I've found in those moments for myself and with others is there's often this pulse of intuition moving through us.

3:16.0

Something deep in our being that's saying this is not quite it or being pulled in a different direction, but we can't actually see what that direction looks like if it were to come to fruition.

3:30.0

Like what is that specific path? If I leave this job, what will have on the other side? Am I going to try and start a YouTube channel? Will that be successful? How will I know?

3:43.0

If I leave this person, am I going to be alone for a while forever? Am I going to meet someone as good? Am I going to be sad, disappointed?

3:53.0

So these are the things that the mind and the ego mind specifically contends with in these moments of following or not following what feels true for us.

4:06.0

And it can be the biggest barrier because the reality is is that we just can never know. We'll never know what the path is going to look like.

4:18.0

You're at a fork. You can go one way and that creates a universe. You go another way and that creates another universe.

4:24.0

You choose one. You're not going to know what the other looks like. And so when we try to live our life through the predictability of a future moment,
