Hello and welcome to Queer's Fact, a queer history podcast. My name is Hamish and I use

he-him pronouns. Hello, I'm Alice and I use she-her pronouns. My name's Eli and I use he-him.

My name's Irene. conventionally, I use

she-her, but I don't really mind what you use. We are four history students huddled in an unstable

blanket fort to reduce reverb. In each episode, one of us will talk about a queer topic from history,

whether it's a person, an event, an era or an object, while the rest of us will make

interested noises and ask questions. We tried very hard to nail down a definition of the word queer before we started this podcast,

but there has been a lot of history across a lot of different cultures,

and one simple definition of queer is not going to work for them all.

So we'll be engaging with this question from episode to episode as we explore new contexts.
