Tonight we are beginning

St. Paul's Epistle to the Hebrews. I'll go ahead and say it.

So most of

tonight's going to be introduction, especially because this is Hebrews.

And there's sort of a lot to talk about in terms of this book.

Because as I just implied, I refer to it as St. Paul's Epistle to the Hebrews,

but there's a whole lot of people, including a bunch of church fathers who don it as St. Paul's epistle to the Hebrews, but there's a whole lot of people,

including a bunch of church fathers who don't think St. Paul wrote it. It's kind of not really an epistle, and we're not even sure it was written per se to a group of Hebrews, but more on each of of those later it's sort of like the holy roman empire

thing in voltaire um but uh we'll be we'll be discussing that uh tonight here as we introduce

so we'll start with the st. Paul part. So the epistle has always been known as

St. Paul's epistle to the Hebrews, even by people who didn't think St. Paul wrote it. It was just

firmly established very early on. To give you an idea of how early on,

we've talked before about how, um, when we're talking about what an original text would

be for the New Testament, now that's a thing that doesn't actually really exist.

We, when we were talking about that, we talked about how the books of the Bible not only was there this

process of writing, right, where the case of,

for example, we'll stick with St. Paul's epistles for tonight.

He's to St. Paul's epistles.

St. Paul dictated them.
