We'll go ahead and get started.

When we get started tonight, we're actually starting the Book of Exodus, which means

you won't have to sit through a recap on the one hand.

By the other hand, you will have to sit through an introduction to the Book of Exodus.

So that's the tradeoff.

So we finished Genesis,

and we talked about,

introduction to Genesis really all the way through

as we were talking about it and interpreting it,

the fact that Genesis is really the prologue to the Torah,

that the first five books of the Bible, the Pentateuch, the Torah is really the prologue to the Torah, that the first five books of the Bible,

the Pentateuch, the Torah is really a unit and functions as a unit.

Well, once again, when we get to Deuteronomy, we'll have some special things to say about that,

but it really does function as a unit.

And from Exodus that we're going to be starting now to the end of Deuteronomy,

there is a very clear arc. That arc is the life of the prophet Moses. So when we begin

here in Exodus eventually, after I'm done introducing, which will be a while, so settling.

We're going to begin pretty quickly with the birth of Moses, and Deuteronomy ends with the

death of Moses. So I'd be very literal when I say the arc of this is the life of Moses.
