On a quiet street in the California suburb of Paris, a neighbor surveillance camera caught a teenage girl exiting the window of her house around 549 AM on January 14th, 2018.

This teenager was 17-year- old Jordan Turpin.

But she had trouble speaking. Her voice was shaking, and the operator could tell that she was clearly terrified.

Now, Jordan told the operator, her home address, based off a slip of paper she'd found in her backpack. It was something she had

grabbed on her way out of her window, but it turned out that it wasn't the full

address, it was just a zip code. And when the operator asked Jordan why she didn't know her home address,

Jordan replied it was because she'd never been allowed outside of the home.
