Hi, DNA ID listeners. I'd like to tell you about a terrific podcast called Women and Crime.

Women in Crime is true crime told by real criminologists. Amy Schlossberg and co-host

Megan Sacks are both criminologists who have spent their entire careers studying and talking about

crime. They both have firsthand experience working with offenders and professionals in the

criminal justice system. Each episode of women and crime features a new female-focused case

deconstructed by experts. The cases Amy and Megan cover involve females as both offenders

and as victims. Of course, more often than not, these two are one and the same.

You'll hear stories of these female victims and offenders paired with the science that tells you where it all began.

Ali Abulaban was a military officer stationed at the Okinawa Air Force Base when he met Anna in 2014.

Originally from Staten Island, Ali had joined the military as a way to get

out of his home. According to Ali, he and his father were often at odds. Though his family was

Muslim, Ali wasn't really that interested in the religion or the traditional lifestyle that Iqbunita,

you know? From a young age, Ali was interested

in the entertainment industry, and he was very good at performing, which in some ways upset his

father. I don't think his father viewed that as, you know, traditional hard work. So after high

school, Ali's father forced him to attend community college. But he really wasn't

interested in higher education. So he decided to enlist in the military for an Intel job instead.

However, there were no positions available in Intel for that time. So after he'd finished basic

training, he ended up as a military police officer in Okinawa,
