Molly trained as an Olympic skier for a decade, but after a bad injury, she suddenly found herself running high-stakes poker games

for the rich and powerful. Now, Molly's trading in her poker chips for a pen and a microphone.

On this episode of Torched, which I wrote, Molly revisits the 1972 men's basketball gold medal game,

set against a bitter Cold War backdrop. To this day, the U.S. team has refused to accept their

silver medals because of what went down on the court with the Soviet Union. Was it simply controversy?

Or could it have been conspiracy?

It's said that inside a bank in Switzerland, there's a vault.

Inside the vault, there are 12 medals, Olympic medals.

The metals are two and a half inches in diameter, four millimeters thick.

The Greek goddess victory is carved on one side.

On the other side, the twin sons of Zeus. The Olympics are supposed to represent sports at their purest and very best. The

paragon of fair play and honorable competition. And an Olympic medal is the embodiment of those

ideals.

These 12 medals, however, stand for something very different.

Rejection and despair.

An injustice that took place on a basketball court 50 years ago.
