Season 2 of unpacking Israeli history is almost here, and I can't wait to show you what we're working on.

But meanwhile, I wanted to share something else with you.

Something I'm really excited about.

Unpacking Israeli history is all about excavating the past in order to understand the present.

But my colleagues at Unpacked have been working on a new podcast, one that I think

will really compliment this one. It's called This Week UnPacked. I know, how many times can I say

unpacked in one sentence?

Each week my colleague Sarah and Avi will dive deep into something going on in the contemporary

Jewish and Israeli world, something you've probably seen in the news and want to understand

more and you're kind of over just

getting one perspective. Episodes are about 15 minutes long and they're

amazing. In a world that is hyper-polarized and partisan, we take a different approach and frankly, I hope it's refreshing.

for a long time I've been obsessed with two things, the NBA and Israeli politics. Guess which one this episode is about?

I'd love to get into the NBA playoffs another time, but let's talk about Israeli politics.

Back in 2009, I was a student at Hebrew University, and I was such an Israeli politics nerd that

when I was on a Euro trip with friends in early 2009, I left my friends

in Rome a week early so that I could be back in Israel in time for the election, despite the fact that

I wasn't yet a citizen and couldn't even vote.
