Hey, it's Jason Moon. I wanted to let you know what I've been up to.

For the past year or so, while I've been keeping an eye on how Jason Carroll's case is playing out,

I've also been working on a news story.

It's about another place in New Hampshire, where a very different kind of crime has apparently

been happening for decades. That place is known around here as YDC, the Youth Development

Center. It's the juvenile detention center where the state sends kids who break the law.

The idea was that instead of putting these kids into adult jails and prisons,

YDC would be different.

It would shelter, nurture, and educate these kids. But that's not what happened.

Over the past few years, more than a thousand kids who went through YDC say it was a living nightmare.

And the facility is now at the center of one of the largest scandals of its kind in American history. I spent the past year digging into this, asking, how could

this have happened? What I found? Honestly, it shocked me.
