The host Charlotte Lawson and Lauren Domino, our friends, writers and black women striving to live their best lives and trying not to lose their minds or be in a constant state of rage in the process.

Each episode Charlotte and Lauren over share their personal experiences on a broad range of topics spanning from sex to politics to meditation and how those things have either helped or hurt their journey to joy.

Then the ladies invite a luminary, a black woman they look up to or who has inspired them to share their own experiences, one how they've charted their path to joy.

The show seeks to answer questions like what does it take to be happy, what does what does it mean to be happy, what skills can black women learn to bring them more joy? How do we find happiness in the modern world?

Okay, here's a little bit of the secret lives of black women.

And I remember the first writers room that I was in like a year after I left that room or years after I left that room, my manager at the time revealed to me that I had been a diversity higher at that first job.

And I just remember when she told me that like, first of all, why was that a big secret?

Like it like as if it was something that she had to keep from me. And second, why is that something that I'm supposed to be ashamed about you guys wouldn't have had me otherwise. I'm brilliant.

I'm really smart. This viewing of diversity is something that is not a great thing like that it's a burden or that it's like something that is supposed to be embarrassing to me in any way. And it's just like no.

I'm glad it's only supposed to be embarrassing to you if you have the mindset that it's like this is a handout.

It's a sure not worthy and you're like presence is a present.

No, you're the ones that couldn't find me.

Exactly. You guys don't talk. You guys supposedly don't know any other talented black people. That's not my problem.
