Hello and welcome to the first episode of The OC again with Nico Stratis and Alex Steed.

I am Alex Steed.

Nico will join me shortly and we will get into it. This is an OC recap show and

everything that is recalled along the way to recapping episodes of the O.C. In particular,

Nico is among many other things, culture and music critic, commentator, observer,

and so on.

And so a lot of what we will be doing is putting ourselves back in 2003, in 2004, 2005,

etc.

In the process of recapping these episodes.

So we're going to cover a lot of ground. The other thing is I became enamored by with the OC recap show that is hosted by Melinda Mindy

Clark and Rachel Bilsson. And I really wanted to initially do a recap show of their recap show,

but I realized that that is probably unsustainable and a little too embarrassingly niche.

However, it is a show we are going to bring up a lot. So if that is one that you are or are not

familiar with, it's something we will comment upon throughout.

I don't think we touch it very much in this episode, but it'll certainly make appearances

moving forward. It is recapped from a pretty specific perspective, and we wanted to look at it

from another perspective, which is people who love this show, people who realize that this show is flawed,

and people who realize that this show was a cultural milestone in a lot of different ways. And we

wanted to be able to examine that in ways that a cast recap show is not necessarily likely to do. And finally, we will talk about a lot of

the things that the show gets right. We will talk about a lot of the things that in retrospect,

the show maybe gets wrong. We are going to talk about the times in these conversations will not always be extremely concise. We are going to

cover a lot of ground, both with regard to what was happening when the show came out, what is
