to talk about my family and the man who defined us, Franklin Jones.

And it sounds crazy, I know, to say this.

But things got so much worse for me before they got better.

Because after Dear Franklin Jones was released, I felt like my life changed forever.

The show was a huge hit, thanks to you. And I ended up starting a production

company, Neon Hum, which went on to launch dozens of more hits. But at the same time, my family

fell apart. I became estranged from my father. We barely spoke for a long while after this

podcast aired. That is, until he got sick.

And then, in a strange twist of fate, I became responsible for my dad's care. And that is what

mind is burning is all about. It's a continuation of the story we explored together on Dear

Franklin Jones, exclusively available as an audiobook. In it, I'm trying to answer a complicated

question. What do we owe each other as family? I recount my childhood growing up in the

Colt in Northern California, in a lot more detail than we get into

in the podcast, my estrangement from my father as an adult, and then the experience of being
