I'm Anna Sinfield and this is The Girlfriend Spotlight, where each week we bring you a new story of women winning.

I want to introduce you to some incredible women.

First, there's Tracy. When she broke up with her abusive ex, she thought it was the last time she'd ever have to see him.

But then, he broke into her bedroom, wielding a gun.

I remember that feeling of my heart falling out of my chest.

Like, okay, this is how I die.

Then there's Luann, who was raised in a secretive religious community.

Age just 15, she was trapped in an incestuous marriage.

I just thought, if I'm going to heaven, why is everybody else so much happier than I am?

And here's June, an incredible musician who faced sexism and snide remarks wherever she turned.

You were an all girl band.

I mean, how were people reacting to you?

Not very well.

Not very well at all.

I mean, the whole world was against us.

No doubt, these women have faced some tough situations in their lives.

They've fought fear and injustice.

But these stories are about fighters, survivors, and outright badasses.

Tracy created light from the darkness.

I want to take over the world and just leave this place better than I found it.

And made her Paralympic dreams come true.

Happiness and bliss doesn't cover it.
