Hi there, this is Graham Cook and you're listening to the introduction to a brand new

initiative called Brilliant Perspectives Podcasts. The reason I'm doing a podcast really because I think it's really important in life to practice listening skills.

You know, I love music for example and I love how it makes me feel when I listen.

I love reading scripture aloud. I love

conversations with people that I love. I love hearing God's voice. I love the

sound. I love the link between hearing and becoming. I love the thinking, the envisioning, and the

language that's created by hearing something. I grew up listening to radio because we had no TVs in those days and I remember

talking to my mother and she was always listening to radio and quite often we would listen to radio together.

And she said she loved listening to, during the war, listening to Winston Churchill's voice to his speeches, you know, we will

fight them on the beaches, all that kind of stuff. And I remember listening to

copies of Martin Luther King when he's talking about I have a dream and just those

things they they create a vision in you.

You know, when you can't see something

and you're listening to something,

then your heart and your spirit have to compensate.

So then you start to feel and you start to envision, you start to imagine.

We get to see and feel things that are invisible

because our heart creates them.

And I think I've always been fascinated

by the link between listening and becoming and

thinking and so I really want people to have that same creative experience without the distraction of having to look at me.
